In 7-10 days you will see the chrysalis become transparent, revealing the butterfly's new wings. Eventually the butterfly will "eclose" and emerge from the chrysalis, where it will hang and dry out its wings. Butterflies may be observed for up to 24 hours, but then need to be released outside to drink the nectar from flowers that they need to survive and start the life cycle again.
